Nevada Highway Patrol seeks public’s help in hit-and-run case

Hit-and-run accidents can leave serious personal injury, property damage and emotional turmoil in their wakes. Because of this, Nevada law enforcement officials work hard to identify and locate the drivers responsible for these collisions. Often, authorities will ask for the public’s assistance in these efforts.

The Nevada Highway Patrol is seeking the public’s help in identifying and tracking down the driver in a hit-and-run accident that has left a male North Las Vegas law enforcement officer injured. Information gathered thus far indicates that the hit-and-run vehicle was a green, four-door sedan. Reports do not state whether authorities have any leads on the driver’s age, gender or appearance. Those who have any information on this driver are being asked to contact the Nevada Highway Patrol.

The motorcycle officer, who has been with the department for 18 years, was struck when a vehicle swerved into his lane. According to an eyewitness, the collision catapulted the officer for approximately 90 feet, at which point his head struck a concrete barrier.

Despite the fact that the officer’s body appeared lifeless to a driver who stopped to provide assistance, the officer did not suffer life-threatening injuries and is recovering.

The victims of hit-and-run accidents can be left with serious injuries and financial damages. If the parties responsible for these incidents are found, the victims may choose to seek justice for their losses through civil litigation. If you have suffered a personal injury in such an accident, you may want to discuss your case with an attorney. Doing so can help you determine whether you should pursue legal action.
