2 Las Vegas teens killed; families ask for help with expenses

Fatal car accidents in Las Vegas are often tragic. This is especially true when the victims were young and the collision could have been easily prevented. When such victims come from low-income families, funeral expenses and other accident-related costs may be significant financial burdens. In some cases, these families ask for the community’s help.

The families of two Las Vegas teens are asking for the public’s assistance in paying for funeral expenses. The two girls were killed in an alleged DUI car accident. These families have set up accounts through the GoFundMe website, where members of the public may make donations.

The accident occurred when the girls’ Nissan Versa was turning at an intersection on Boulder Highway. A sedan driven by a 22-year-old male struck the Versa. The male driver was traveling at a high speed and authorities suspect that he was driving under the influence.

This is not the first time the sedan driver has been arrested for driving while intoxicated. In July 2014, he was charged with multiple offenses related to DUI and drug paraphernalia use or possession. Reports do not indicate whether any personal injury lawsuits or other civil litigation resulted from that incident.

Family members left behind after a tragic car accident must shoulder great burdens. They must contend not only with financial expenses related to the incident, but also with severe emotional stress. Both of these may be addressed through a lawsuit. As such, those who have lost a loved one to a negligent driver may find it helpful to contact an attorney. Victims’ relatives may have the right to file wrongful death civil litigation, and a lawyer can provide details on this legal option.
