Las Vegas discount ticket firms agree to end lawsuits

Two years have come and gone as a pair of Las Vegas ticket firms have exchanged accusations.

In fact, the two companies here exchanged more than accusations: they filed litigation against each other as well.

Tix Corporation, a discount ticketing firm and entertainment company, has been battling Vegas.com, a travel Web site that offers discount tickets at its VegasTix4Less, LLC kiosks.

Tix Corporation has more than a dozen discount ticket stores under the Tix4Tonight name. It offers discounts to shows, concerts, sporting events and other attractions, including golf and restaurants.

Vegas.com, on the other hand, offers tickets to shows, hotels, dining, golf and other attractions.

So it's not difficult to see how the competitors clashed.

The initial suit, filed in December of 2009, according to Ticket News, was filed by VegasTix4Less for anti-trust violations it alleged were committed by Tix4Tonight, LLC.

Tix4Tonight was accused of obtaining exclusive distribution rights from show producers and venues in Las Vegas. It was further alleged that the company issued threats against venues who agreed to do business with VegasTix4Less.

Tix4Tonight was also accused of trying to bribe a client into barring the competition from selling tickets to his business.

Tix4Tonight quickly countersued, claiming that VegasTix4Less was infringing on its trademark.

That is all water under the bridge, however, as the two firms have entered into a business agreement. The deal requires Tix Corp. to buy some VegasTix4Less assets for $4 million, with $2 million paid immediately and the rest paid in installments over eight years.

In return, Vegas.com is licensing Tix Corporation's patented ticket distribution system.
