Fired museum employee alleges personal injury, defamation by boss

A former employee of Las Vegas' Erotic Heritage Museum is bringing a wide array of accusations against her former boss and lover in a new lawsuit against the museum and its owner. Among other things, the plaintiff, who was fired in 2010, accuses the owner of defaming her and indirectly causing her personal injury after their affair ended. She says she her career has been harmed by the defendant's actions and is seeking more than $50,000 in damages.

According to a news report about the lawsuit, the plaintiff first came into contact with the defendant when she enrolled in his Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality in 2003. The parties began an extramarital affair the next year that lasted until 2007, by which time she was working as an assistant curator at his Las Vegas museum. The lawsuit describes the defendant as abusive and controlling, which led the plaintiff to break off the affair, though she continued to work at the museum until she was fired in September 2010.

The defendant says he terminated the plaintiff for improperly borrowing money from the museum for personal use. But the plaintiff says that the firing was without cause and that the defendant subsequently defamed her by claiming to a newspaper that she was involved in "an illegal conspiracy with 'Germans'" and stole. He also allegedly tried to invalidate the degrees she had earned from his institute to make it hard for her to find work in the human sexuality field.

The plaintiff also alleges personal injury. She claims in the lawsuit that a 2009 hospitalization for an anxiety attack was due to stress she experienced while working under the defendant, who was allegedly obsessed with her, and his wife, who was jealous of the affair.
