Man allegedly fakes accident and files a personal injury suit

Every year millions of dollars are spent paying for medical bills following an accident. Premise liability cases in Las Vegas are a very real issue that affects both the health and financial wellbeing of individuals every day. Yet, there are some people who take advantage of the judicial system meant to support those who have been injured; in hopes of gaining big money with little effort, some use civil litigation as a means to line their pocketbooks.

One man is facing felony fraud charges for allegedly staging an accident and claiming that he received nearly $5,000 in medical bills, sources say. He initially filed a personal injury claim against a transit station seeking $15,000, but that case was dismissed when video evidence was revealed to show that he threw on the ground the very thing that made him slip: a banana peel.

After staging the fall, the man was transported to the hospital for supposed injuries to his hip and leg, and a police report was filed. However, the metro transit station investigated and claims that the man, seen continually glancing at the camera, was obviously acting deceitfully.

Issues such as these do a disservice to the men and women around the world who are truly injured due to no fault of their own. From slippery or uneven floors to malfunctioning machinery, dangerous property conditions are regularly the source of accidents that can cause long lasting and debilitating injuries.

Those who have been hurt may find justice and support by taking their case to court with the assistance of an attorney.
