4 injured due to defect in GM Saturn Auras

It is somewhat common to hear about car accidents in Las Vegas. Often these involve drivers who were not paying proper attention while they were operating their vehicles or were driving while intoxicated. Sometimes, however, these accidents are not the fault of drivers, but of negligent car manufacturers and defective vehicles. When this occurs, people who were injured as a result of car defects may choose to pursue civil litigation against these companies.

Four injuries have been reported in relation to a rollaway hazard in GM Saturn Aura sedans. This report does not detail how serious these injuries were. Twenty-eight crashes were also related to this defect, but this article does not indicate whether property damage resulted from these accidents. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has been reviewing this matter since May 2011.

Based on its initial findings, the NHTSA determined that the issue warranted further investigation into potential engineering problems. GM had been resisting a recall since the agency’s initial review, and the car manufacturer has been called to task for not including the Saturn Auras in a 2012 recall for other vehicles that suffered from a similar defect. According to the company, the problem was distinct enough to justify that decision.

When someone suffers an injury as a result of a design defect, manufacturing problem or premises liability, that person may have the right to file a personal injury lawsuit against any parties responsible. If you have been hurt due to the negligence of a person or company and would like to know more about the civil litigation process, you may find it beneficial to consult with an attorney.
