Man appeals order prohibiting him from having children

Las Vegas may have a reputation as a vacation spot, but there are also many families who call this city home. When they face family law disputes, they may find it necessary to appeal decisions made by probate or family law judges. These types of cases can quickly become complicated, involving issues like fundamental rights and legal errors.

An Ohio man’s appeal to overturn a probate judge’s ruling has proven unsuccessful. The man is father to four children and owes approximately $100,000 in back child support. He was ordered to refrain from having any more children for a five-year probation period, although the reproductive restriction could end early if the man makes his delinquent payments. The attorney for the father argued that the order should be overturned because it violates his client’s reproductive rights.

Although the appellate court upheld the decision, it made no ruling regarding the appropriateness of the order, stating that it was presented with insufficient information to make any determination on the case’s merits. Specifically, the court noted that it needed to have been provided a pre-sentence report on the man. Reports do not indicate whether the father and his attorney plan to appeal again.

Those who pursue civil appeals may quickly become overwhelmed by all of the complicated issues that can arise. If you are confused about the legal technicalities involved in child custody or child support appeals, it may be beneficial for you to consult with an attorney. This can help you gain a better understanding of what the process may entail.
