Driver runs red light, kills Henderson woman

Successfully bringing a personal injury lawsuit in Las Vegas can involve many different types of evidence, including eyewitness statements, security camera footage and law enforcement records. In cases involving car accidents, official determinations on whether the defendant was obeying traffic laws at the time of the crash can play a big part in assigning liability for injuries, deaths or property damage.

A 34-year-old male drove his BMW through a red light, causing a collision with a Nissan driven by a 70-year-old male and carrying a 69-year-old woman from Henderson. The woman died as a result of the crash. Law enforcement authorities have cited the BMW driver for failing to obey the traffic signal.

The two cars had been travelling in opposite directions on St. Rose Parkway when the BMW attempted to turn left, running a red light as he did so. The BMW’s turn into the Nissan’s path caused the latter vehicle to collide with the passenger side of the former.

The elderly woman did not seem to be seriously hurt when she was examined after the crash, but was later admitted to Sunrise Trauma Center to receive treatment for severe injuries. She died there on November 19, one week after the accident. The BMW driver was not hurt in the accident. Reports do not offer details on the current state of the Nissan driver or on his relationship with the deceased.

If you have been hurt in an accident caused by a driver who negligently disobeyed traffic laws, you may want to discuss your case with an attorney. This can help you determine whether pursuing civil litigation is a good option for you.
