Man killed while attempting to help auto accident victims

In the chaos and confusion of a Las Vegas car crash, those who are directly involved in the collision may not be the only ones injured by it. Sometimes those who are simply standing nearby or who stop to offer help can also be seriously hurt or even killed. When this occurs, the victims and/or their family members may have the right to pursue civil litigation against the parties responsible for the accident.

A 67-year-old male truck driver was struck by a vehicle and killed when he exited his rig in order to assist motorists who had been involved in a massive pileup. The pileup, which occurred on a Pennsylvania highway and ultimately involved 18 vehicles, was the result of reduced visibility caused by a snow storm.

According to the county corner, the scene of the accident was extremely chaotic. It is unclear from reports whether the death of the trucker was in any part attributable to this chaos and the inability to receive immediate medical attention.

One other person, a 35-year-old man, was also killed in the accident. Several other people were hurt but did not sustain life-threatening injuries.

In accidents involving multiple vehicles, determining the cause of a single injury or death can be complicated. To ensure that all relevant evidence is preserved, those who suffer a personal injury from such a car crash may want to consult with an attorney as soon as possible. This can help to ensure that evidence is documented appropriately in the event that the injured parties wish to pursue civil litigation.
