Employment discrimination lawsuit against Walmart rejected

When allegations of discrimination occur against an employer in Las Vegas, it can have devastating effects. Not only can it result in the business losing vital profits, it can also take time away from running your company. In order for your employee to prove discrimination has taken place, he must be able to show that he was treated unfairly because of a certain characteristic. This characteristic may be race, sex, age, religion and more.

A group of Walmart employees recently joined together in an attempt to file a class action discrimination lawsuit against the company. The business litigation lawsuit was filed on behalf of 150,000 women who were employed by Walmart. The lawsuit was rejected by a U.S. District Judge who said the suit did not qualify as a class action lawsuit because it was too wide ranging and there was not enough evidence shown to constitute gender discrimination.

This lawsuit was the second attempt at suing Walmart for this kind of discrimination. In 2001, a class action lawsuit was filed on behalf of 1.6 million women around the country. That lawsuit was rejected by the U.S. Supreme Court in 2011 because they found that there was a lack of evidence of discrimination on a companywide level and because there were too many women involved who worked different jobs at Walmart to lump into one lawsuit.

If you are being threatened with an employee discrimination lawsuit, it is important that you speak with a lawyer. Doing so can enable you to have proper representation in court and make sure your interests are protected.
