Commercial food trucks are quickly becoming all the rage in cities across the country. Las Vegas, a place known for its excellent restaurants and food culture, is no exception. However, the ubiquity of these trucks can raise safety issues, particularly if they are involved in car accidents, as these vehicles are quite a bit larger than a standard compact car. In addition, if a food truck is in a car crash, there may be certain liability issues that arise due to the commercial nature of the vehicle. At the very least, accidents involving these food trucks may lead to civil lawsuits against negligent drivers, including personal injury claims.
Las Vegas law enforcement authorities are currently investigating a car accident involving a food truck and a Toyota Camry. According to the food truck’s driver, the crash occurred because she was trying to maneuver around a pickup truck. It is unclear whether the pickup truck actually played a significant role in the accident.
The crash took place on an early weekday morning, and the food truck was found lying on its side at the scene. The driver of the Camry sustained some injuries and received treatment at the University Medical Center. There was one other person in the food truck at the time of the accident; both the driver and this person were unharmed.
Businesses must always be cautious about potential legal issues involving their employees and commercial properties, such as personal injury claims, premises liability suits, and other forms of civil litigation. Owners of companies that are facing such lawsuits may wish to consult with an attorney to determine their best defense strategies.
