Las Vegas house fire results in 2 child fatalities

Most Las Vegas residents feel safe when they are in their homes. Unfortunately, accidents can and do occur when people are at home, perhaps even when they are asleep in their own beds. If these accidents can be traced to premises liability or other forms of negligence, the parties responsible can be made to pay compensation to those who have been injured, or to the families of those who suffered wrongful deaths.

Local officials are conducting an investigation into an early morning Las Vegas house fire that has claimed the life of two children, aged two and four. An expected timeline for this investigation was not provided. Reports do not indicate whether authorities believe the fire was started by a building maintenance issue such as poor wiring or a gas leak.

Two adults were in the home when the fire began and attempted to extinguish the flames from outside. They sustained injuries of an unknown severity, and were taken to University Medical Center for treatment.

Firefighters were able to reach the children by entering through a window, but both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Those who have sustained a personal injury or have had loved ones die due to negligently maintained buildings may have the right to file premises liability suits. This type of civil litigation can be used to hold a person or company responsible for failing to keep a building in a safe state. If you believe you have a viable case, you may want to review your situation with a lawyer.
