According to police officers, nearly 70 people have died this year in Las Vegas as a result of traffic incidents. That number is staggering considering that the likelihood is very high that a large majority of the accidents probably could have been avoided. Traffic hazards are presented every day, but those who are alert and take every precaution to stay safe can better prevent themselves and others from being injured.
One of the basic steps to preventing injury on the roadways is to obey all traffic laws. At times, individuals are in a hurry, distracted or simply disregard the laws because they feel like doing so. This is a dangerous gamble that can have serious life-long consequences for everyone involved. If someone loses their life due to the negligent actions of others, the family of the victim may be able to file a civil litigation lawsuit and ask for damages.
Recently an elderly Las Vegas woman was crossing the street via a crosswalk when she was hit by a car and lost her life. According to police reports, other vehicles had stopped for the 78 year old who was using a wheelchair, but one driver failed to do so, thus causing the fatal accident. It is unknown if the driver and her two young passengers were injured, but police indicated that the senior died at the scene.
The family of the victim may be able to file a wrongful death lawsuit, and should speak with an experienced attorney to better understand their rights.
